Gourmet Story and Gala balet announce Ri Gastro Week dedicated to sardines and cherries


In late May, Ri Gastro will put the humble, yet magnificent, sardine under the spotlight. Hailed as a fisherman’s favourite and dubbed “the queen of the sea”, the sardine is living and swimming proof that healthy food doesn't have to be expensive. The sardine will become a fixture on caterers’ menus in Rijeka and its surroundings from May 24 to May 31st, during which they will present this small but valuable fish in all its glory by preparing delectable sardine delicacies. To kick off the Ri Gastro – The Sardine is IN Week, we have another Gastro Cooking Show in store for you with our coupling of Opatija Riviera and Rijeka Gourmet Story. These two culinary stories will become one and offer visitors a myriad of savoury, local and aromatic treats in the majestic ambience of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc. All proceeds from the sale of these treats will go to charity. The duo Alba & Leo will provide the soundtrack and, after tasting the delicacies from Kvarner Bay, the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc invites you to its premiere of “Gala Ballet”, a show featuring some of the most delightful excerpts from classical and contemporary ballet.

After such an elegant introduction, the Ri Gastro – Sardine is IN Week will resume in restaurants and gastropubs, while the Opatija Riviera and Rijeka Gourmet Story will continue until June 19th in around 70 establishments on the Opatija Riviera and in Rijeka, where premium gourmet specialties will be available at reasonable prices.
And, after the sardine ends its reign, the crown will be passed on to cherries, as May 31st marks the beginning of Ri Gastro – Cherry Week!
