The PPS destinations of Opatija and Rijeka will be featured at the F.r.e.e. international tourism fair that opened in Munich as part of the exhibition stand representing Kvarner. Bavarians frequently visit Kvarner and Istria due to their proximity and the fair is a great opportunity to promote Opatija and Rijeka in this important market and also to draw more tourists from Germany. The Opatija Riviera and the Rijeka ring will also be given the chance to showcase their offer as part of the PPS destinations Opatija and Rijeka.
The topic of the press conference organized by the Kvarner Tourist Board was „Kroatiens Trendregion – Kvarner für 4 Jahreszeiten“ – that is, Kvarner as a year-round destination. The tourist offer of the PPS destinations Opatija and Rijeka was presented to the German reporters with a special emphasis on five of the most important tourism products, namely culture, wellness and health, gastronomy, outdoors and business tourism.
The F.r.e.e fair in Munich is open to a wide audience and will be held from February 18th to February 22nd, with the organizers expecting more than 110,000 visitors. The fair has been held continuously since 1970 (it was previously known as CBR) and has become a valuable source of information for Bavarians looking for a vacation spot at this time of the year. More than 1,500 exhibitors from 50 countries are featured at this year's F.r.e.e. fair.
Most of the tourists that visit Kvarner hail from Germany and a total of 30.47 % of all overnight stays are made by German tourists. That’s 500,000 arrivals and 3.4 million overnight stays. According to the surveys on travel trends in Germany, it is expected that the number of tourists from Germany will continue to grow.
